The child passed by my seat with empty palms
And begged for love to fill its soulful eyes.
For 'twas not hunger nor the need for alms
That left the waif so piteous in guise.
She had her home, if four walls and a roof
Was all the meaning she should yet require;
But in that place all hearts remained aloof,
A negligence deserving of all ire.
She stood in place; I stood and turned my face.
Hi there, I just wanted to apologize for not really turning up anything with the group. I didn't really come in with a plan or anything, and so it seems that things have come to naught.
I do want to draw special attention to the fact that this is an art collection group. That means that we have a mission not only to write sonnets, but to collect them. I would like to see most every sonnet here on DA collected and readable here on this group. Rather ambitious, but that's what I would like. It is one of my favorite forms.
I'm interested in starting a crown collaboration soon. I realize the first one never seemed to materialize, and for that I'm sorry, but I think I've learned more about how to organize such an event. The other idea I've been mulling around is a fortnight-long sonnet challenge, in a similar fashion to #ProjectDFC, where the challenge is to write a different sonnet form each day. It would be great to diversify the sonnet types we have (I'd like to read and write some caudate or Spenserian sonnets myself).
The indriso was one of the forms listed in #ProjectDFC (December 19th). If you wrote an indriso on that day, I would be happy to see it in our indriso folder!
That's about it. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please let me know!
